Mystic Aquarium

This morning I was introduced to PopTarts for breakfast - really tasty but I can't imagine them being healthy or keeping hunger at bay for long! We worked a little on our robot army then had a snack of Ritz crackers sandwiching peanut butter. Oh my word, that's good!

Around 10:30, we headed to Connecticut to go to an aquarium there. It took just over an hour & by the time we got there, we were hungry for lunch, so Adam took me to a place called 'Friendly's'. which is a family friendly diner chain. I had a 'grilled cheese' with fries - a proper grilled cheese. It was so good. And our waitress was adorable, with her thick American accent & good manors.

Afterwards, we headed to Mystic Aquarium (the name of the town is 'Mystic'). It's quite expensive to get in - $35 per person - but Adam got in free because he is military, so that helped. The aquarium was really nice; big & educational, but there were some large sea creatures there that I wasn't too fond of - two beluga whales, some nurse & sand tiger sharks, rays, seals & sea-lions. There was a turtle called Charlotte who had been paralyzed due to an accident so was being rehabilitated, so that was good. We participated in the questions & watched the sea-lion show, & Adam saved me from seeing any eels, which would have been bad as I had a mini panic attack at the idea that there were eels around. Thankfully that was at the end of the aquarium tour.

On the way home, we decided to get some ice cream so stopped at a place called Next To Nowhere Creamery as there was a diner next-door called Middle Of Nowhere! The Creamery was a building that you couldn't go in, but ordered from one window & collected from another. They had hundreds of flavors & toppings but I went for two scoops of 'milky way' in a cup, while Adam had two scoops of blueberry ice cream in a waffle cone. It was really yummy.

Back home, we went back to work on the robots, finishing the legs & varnishing. We had left over pizza, followed by popcorn while watching 'Mrs Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children'.
