Nara Park should be more famous than it is due to all the history it has & the things that go on there, but the main reason people go there, & the reason we went there, was to see the wild deer that roam the area. The 'tame' "wild" deer. The park entrance was a short walk from the station & to begin with I was very underwhelmed to be honest, because we first saw three deer, two of which were being irritated by flies, & there was a lot of building work going on, & the restoration work made the area look ugly, but we carried on through the park anyway & finally got to a bit of the park that did impress us & gave way to trees, fields, & ponds.
We had to go through an area of tourist attractions to get to it, but once we were away from the crowds & under tree cover, I could see the beauty of the place. Deer were wandering around everywhere. Some were laying down, some standing in the ponds, some grazing, & some bothering people for biscuits you can buy to feed them. Kayla bought some but while Chris & I were chilling by a pool with some of the deer, a gay came over & handed me some brown acorns to feed the deer - turns out they love them! It was so peaceful, listening to the deer call to each other, & there was a bride & groom having pictures taken, although I'm not sure they were a couple, buy two models. Either way, it was lovely to see; what a beautiful setting for a wedding photo shoot - gorgeous surroundings & gentle deer. There was also a girl dressed in kimono petting the deer, which was a lovely scene.
