Akihabara & Tokyo Tower

Back to Akihabara again to try & find a Zelda figurine. We went into two recommended to us to try & find something; the first was called Kotobukiya. I love Kotobukiya! It's awesome & full of stuff that I fell in love with, or already love, or want to know more about so I can fall in love with it! We found a Link for ¥4630 but decided to look in the second recommended shop; Super Potato! Super Potato is a seriously retro gamers paradise, so Chris was in his element! With crazy old consoles (some of which never made it to the UK) & games that were decades old, everything was pretty expensive & vintage. They had a few Link figures but they weren't as nice or were more pricey, so we bought the one from Kotobukiya.

We talked about going to a Maid Café for lunch but Chris wasn't all that interested & it would have been pretty expensive to do. I would have loved the experience, but agree with Chris that it probably wouldn't be worth the cost. Plus we had that expensive meal at Kawaii Monster Café. So we had a brief wander for food & came across a place we liked the look of. It was called Bar Rhythm & was either part of, or just situated under a Pasela Resort. We had pizzas then headed back to the hotel for a snooze.

We went to see the Tokyo Tower at night & it was great. It kinda looks like the Eiffel Tower & is lit up at night; it cost ¥900 each to go to the main observation deck. The staff were amazing; so so nice, friendly, & polite. I can't imagine getting that sort of service back in England. The view from the deck was amazing; looking out over Tokyo city all lit up, watching the gentle yellow glow of headlights stream through the streets, the harsh green of a ferris wheel, the line of white on a bridge...it was so peaceful up there. There's a shrine up there (which shouldn't be a surprise as there are shrines everywhere), & a baseball that found it's way on to the top of the antennae & was only found when they went up there to do maintenance!

We were there for about 45 minutes when we decided to go & find Hard Rock Café so I could get a glass with 'Hard Rock Tokyo' on it. It felt like it was miles away but I think it was because it was just starting to rain & we were both hungry. We decided to keep an eye out for a good place to eat as we didn't want to eat at Hard Rock because the food is going to be the same there as it is at any Hard Rock. We came across a small pub/bar called Abbots' Choice & advertised itself as an English pub. The guy behind the counter certainly spoke English well, & we shared some chicken & chips served in a basket (very British!). Chris tried a shot of Japanese whisky called Hakushu, then we continued our hunt for Hard Rock Café, but when we finally found it, the shop was closed! We went into the restaurant before I had a mini meltdown, & were able to buy a glass from there. Well, I actually bought an awesome mug instead!
